Luke Combs throws a parking lot party on Music Row ahead of CMA Fest
Luke Combs and his freight train of country radio hits pulled into Nashville for a one-of-a-kind show Wednesday night on Music Row.
The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year threw a No. 1 party — a tradition for industry insiders seldom open to the public — in the parking of music rights organization BMI, inviting thousands of fans to join as he and collaborators sang three years of chart-topping hits.
The night celebrated nine No. 1 Combs songs chronologically from 2019's award-winning ballad "Beautiful Crazy" to "Doin' This," the lead single off Combs' upcoming third album "Growin' Up."
Songwriters for "Better Together," "Beer Never Broke My Heart," "Cold As You," "Forever After All" and more joined Combs on a stage lined with couches, stools and two glowing chandeliers — like a makeshift writers' round (only, you know, with a parking lot audience).
Combs and company performed each song acoustic, sharing stories and telling jokes between takes that traveled to onlookers who filled nearby apartment balconies and parking garages.
"To be here with 8,000 close friends is really nice," Combs said on stage. "Thank y'all for showing up."
Combs' CMA Fest week continues Saturday when he performs inside Nissan Stadium.
