LSU women's basketball: Alexis Morris selected by the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA Draft

LSU women's basketball guard Alexis Morris was selected by the Connecticut Sun with the No. 22 overall pick in the second round during Monday's 2023 WNBA Draft.

Morris, a fifth-year senior, led the Tigers to their first national championship in program history this month, scoring 21 points in the national championship game against Iowa.

Morris finished this past season averaging 15.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists on 43.3% shooting from the floor and 32.9% shooting from 3-point range.

A veteran player, Morris enters the WNBA with elite quickness and ballhandling. She can consistently create her own shot and has an excellent mid-range shooting game, shooting 48.1% from 2-point range this past season.

Morris is one of three Tigers who entered their names into this year's WNBA Draft, joining teammates Jasmine Carson and LaDazhia Williams. Williams was selected by the Indiana Fever with the No. 17 overall pick in the second round.

Morris played two seasons at LSU but began her career at Baylor under Kim Mulkey. However, after a productive freshman year, she was dismissed from the team following a reported arrest in 2018. She then sat for a year before transferring to Rutgers, only playing seven games for the Scarlet Knights.

Following her time at Rutgers, Morris transferred to Texas A&M and played with the Aggies for a season before reuniting with Mulkey at LSU.
