LSU football left tackle Will Campbell expected to be released from hospital

BATON ROUGE - LSU football left tackle Will Campbell passed a "major test" on Monday and is expected to be released from the hospital, according to coach Brian Kelly.

"We've got one more hurdle that we think he can pass," Kelly said.

The freshman sat out last week's 40-13 loss to Tennessee after collapsing and during LSU's walkthrough on Friday. He was then sent to the hospital and stayed there overnight.

LSU (4-2, 2-1 SEC) faces Florida (4-2, 1-2) in Gainesville on Saturday (6 p.m., ESPN).

Kelly said on Saturday that Campbell's condition may have been caused due to dehydration but wasn't sure if that was the only reason.

"We really didn't know what it was," Kelly said Monday. "He's had a battery of tests. They've ruled out virtually any life-threatening, serious, medical situations. He's still going to have a couple more tests done before he's released."

Campbell posted an Instagram story on Friday night, writing "Appreciate all the prayers. I'll be back."

"I was on the field like five feet away from him and he's just on the floor," running back Josh Williams said following Saturday's game. "He just fell and it was just scary. We were just yelling, trying to get people to come help and it was just traumatic."
