Loon Reveals New Trail Map Showcasing New Expansion

Loon Mountain Resort, nestled in the picturesque landscapes of New Hampshire, is thrilled to unveil its latest expansion, the South Peak. With a remarkable addition of eleven new trails and a cutting-edge four-person chairlift, this expansion is set to elevate the skiing experience to new heights.

The South Peak expansion extends Loon's skiable terrain to an impressive 400 acres, complemented by 12 lifts and a vertical drop that reaches an astonishing 2,190 feet, establishing itself as the longest drop in the entire state of New Hampshire.

Encompassing thirty acres of pristine terrain, the new trails cater to skiers and snowboarders of various skill levels. This includes two tree-skiing areas that particularly cater to beginners and intermediates. Notably, over 60 percent of the added terrain is marked as green level, ensuring a welcoming space for newcomers, while the remaining trails are classified as More Difficult.

Adding a personalized touch to the trails, their names draw inspiration from the area's rich logging heritage. What's more, the trail naming process engaged the resort's own team members, who brainstormed over 100 imaginative ideas. After thoughtful consideration, three names were selected: Stinger, Sidewinder, and Chipper.

The South Peak expansion is not just about trails; it introduces the state-of-the-art Timbertown Quad, a Doppelmayr Alpenstar 4-CLF chairlift. Positioned a mere half-mile from Main Street and a short drive from Interstate 93, the Timbertown Quad provides convenient lift access for guests arriving from the Escape Route parking lots. This modern lift effortlessly transports skiers and riders 486 feet in around 6 minutes. Featuring a loading conveyor, the chairlift ensures a seamless and efficient experience while serving the newly expanded terrain.
