Local Sports: Huron, Airport lead All-Huron League baseball

NEW BOSTON − New Boston Huron and Airport, who tied for the Huron League baseball championship, each placed four players on the All-League first team.

Gavin Moczydlowsky, Myles Grace, Tyler Ramsby, and Micah Smith were honored for Huron and Shade Daniels, Jordan Footlander, Tyler Lakatos, and Nolan Zajac for Airport.

Other first-team selections for Monroe County Region schools were Jaxson Morawski and Connor Dessellier of Milan, Drew Bylow of St. Mary Catholic Central, Joey Godfrey of Flat Rock, and Shane Johnson of Jefferson.

The second team included Ashton Warren, Connor Grant, and Kyle Kantola of Huron, Drew VanWasshenova, Jack Mills, and Sean Langton of Airport, Gavin Kruise and Luke Gebhardt of Milan, Tommy Rogoff and Aidan Burrous of SMCC, Mike Giroux and Adam Szalay of Flat Rock, and Cody Byrd of Jefferson.

Huron's Austin O'Dell, Airport's Collin Nowak, Milan's Tyler Hatfield, SMCC's Calvin Bradley, Flat Rock's Anthony Hernandez, and Jefferson's Jase Johns received honorable mention.

Marek, Allen honored

BLISSFIELD − Sara Marek of Dundee's and Ida's Claire Allen have been named to the All-Lenawee County Athletic Association's first team.

Dundee's Hannah Fowler earned a spot on the second team and Rilee Weatherholt of Ida received an honorable mention.

Bahn first team

BLISSFIELD − Carter Bahn of Dundee earned a spot on the All-Lenawee County Athletic Association's first team.

Ida's Zack Bailey made the second team.

JUNIOR HIGH TRACK

Trinity takes second

SAGINAW − Trinity Lutheran's fourth-sixth girls took second place out of thirty teams in the Michigan Lutheran State Meet, just 4.5 points behind champion Macomb Immanuel Saturday.

Sixth grader Charity Frank-DeRoch won the high jump, tying the state record at 4-11 and also won the 800 (2:43) and placed second in the 200.  She teamed up with Lacie Little, Kelsie Sikes, and Olivia Oetjens to take second in the 1,600 relay.

Fifth grader Ava Dowen won the 1,600 in 6:22.  Fifth grader Cole Butler medaled in the long jump, 800, and 1,600 and also teamed up with Bryce Bellino, Harrison Becker, and Thomas Vallade to place second in the 1,600 relay.

Williams shoots ace

TEMPERANCE − Deb Williams used an 8-iron to shoot a hole-in-one on the 89-yard No. 6 hole at Giant Oak Golf Club Tuesday.

ADULT SOCCER

Veit scores three

Parker Veit scored three goals to lead HotSpurs to a 6-2 win over Athletico in the Monroe Adult Coed Soccer League Sunday at LevelUp Training.

Habeeb Bello and Luis Castrillon scored for Athletico.

PRO BASEBALL

Hens waste homers

TOLEDO – Parker Meadows and Kerry Carpenter homered, but the Toledo Mud Hens fell 10-7 to Buffalo Tuesday.

It was the first homer for Carpenter, who is hitting just .161 in a rehabilitation assignment from the Detroit Tigers.

Meadow and Andre Lipcius had three hits each for Toledo.
