From Villa Rosa to the nation’s capital.

Lisa Vanderpump returned to Washington, D.C., this week to attend the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, aka “nerd prom.” The annual celebration of journalism has become one of Capitol Hill’s most anticipated events, thanks in large part to the comedic speeches, celebrity guest list, and headline-grabbing fashion moments.

While Vanderpump RulesAriana Madix and Lala Kent were among the attendees who delivered head-turning looks, Lisa also came through with plenty of shine. The series cast member/executive producer stunned in a red carpet–ready gown that was both elegant and somewhat unexpected. Instead of going for her signature pink, Lisa chose to wear a strapless black dress paired with a shimmery gold cape that cascaded to the ground. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum completed her ensemble with black heels, a gold watch, dangling earrings, and a black handbag with gold accents. Her hair and makeup were done by Jessie D’Angelo, a makeup artist and hairstylist who has worked with national news networks and D.C. heavy-hitters.

Lisa announced her WHCAD attendance in remarks to DailyMail.com last week.

“I don’t know what’s more complicated, reality television or politics — I guess I’ll find out on Saturday evening,” she joked. “I’m delighted to be attending this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner as a guest of DailyMail.com.”

Lisa is no stranger to D.C.’s political realm. She traveled to Capitol Hill back in 2016 to push for a House Resolution that condemned the “Dog Meat Festival in Yulin, China.” She was also a staunch supporter of the Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act, HR. 6720, which was unanimously passed in 2018. The legislation makes it illegal to “knowingly slaughter, ship, transport, move, deliver, receive, possess, purchase, sell, or donate a dog or cat or his or her parts for human consumption.”

It was around the same time when lawmakers also adopted H. Res. 401, which urged other “nations to outlaw the dog and cat meat trade and to enforce existing laws against such trade.” Lisa, who owns a nonprofit animal rescue organization, celebrated the news in an Instagram post.

“It has been a truly amazing day! H. Res. 401, the resolution we have been working on for years urging all nations to outlaw the dog and cat meat trade, passed on the House floor!” she wrote. “It has been a long journey but we never gave up! I am inspired now more than ever to keep moving forward in the fight to end the dog and cat meat trade ... Let us continue our fight to do all that we can to protect our beloved companions.”
