Linda Lusardi has shared her "horrific" experience of coronavirus (COVID-19), two weeks after first revealing that she had fallen ill with the respiratory virus.

The '80s pop culture icon and former glamour model is now recovering at home with her family after spending 10 days in hospital receiving treatment. Her husband, Sam Kane, had been updating fans with news of Linda's condition on Facebook.

Speaking for the first time about her experience, Linda and her husband told The Sun that it was one of the "deepest, darkest places" she'd ever been, before going on to describe her symptoms.

"I started to get a fever, [I was] feeling rough and carried on, but it got worse and worse," she explained. "Your head hurts, your brain hurts, and you feel like an elephant is sitting on you."

Recalling how she felt before she was admitted to hospital, Linda continued: "I remember crawling to the bathroom, putting my face on the tile floor, and then almost trying to make myself sick just to get a light relief for five minutes afterwards.

"I was leaning over the edge of the bed coughing and spitting into a bucket. Your vomit is blue."

Fortunately, Linda appears to be over the worst of the virus and is now recovering from home. Admitting the uncertainty she felt while hospitalised, Linda added: "I said to [my doctor], 'Am I going to make this?' and he said, 'You're 61, I can't guarantee anything. We don't know what we're dealing with here'.

"To hear that was just dreadful and I just burst into tears. I was thinking, 'I can't leave [my children]. I've got to fight to be here for them.'"

Linda's comments come shortly after her husband reassured fans that Linda was a "fighter" and had "beaten" the virus. Sam also reserved special praise for the NHS.

"The NHS staff have been and continue to be the heroes in all of this... The most enormous thank you to all of the NHS staff who continue to get my girl back to health. You're all angels," he said.
