Last 2 defendants in Edwin Davidson Jr.'s 2020 drive-by murder sentenced to prison
A Pineville woman was sentenced to five years, while a Cheneyville man was sent to prison for life on Thursday for their roles in the death of 17-year-old Edwin Davidson Jr. in October 2020.
Five people — Terrence Armstrong, Tyrone Markel Compton, Andrew Chestley Mayo and Pamela Earlene Smith — were arrested and indicted on charges of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and two counts of criminal conspiracy.
Carlino was the same age as Davidson on the night he was murdered, shot once in his head during a drive-by shooting on Orchard Loop from her car. Now 20, she pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge in August 2021.
Compton was found guilty of second-degree murder by a jury on May 19. He was not tried on the other charges.

The two were the last defendants to be sentenced in Davidson's death, which stemmed from an earlier drug deal that he wasn't even involved in, according to past testimony.
Some of the defendants had arranged to pay $90 for 13 Xanax pills in the parking lot of a Bragg Street convenience store, but they soon discovered that just five were actually Xanax.
The rest of what they'd been sold were wadded-up pieces of paper.
A plan was concocted to get revenge, and the group drove to the Orchard Loop home. One person was standing outside when the three men opened fire. A bullet went into the home and hit Davidson, who died at the scene.
Smith pleaded guilty in June 2021 to a conspiracy charge and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Both Armstrong and Mayo were found guilty of second-degree murder by juries. Mayo was sentenced to life in December 2022; Armstrong in March.
