Larson Middle School in Grandview Heights evacuated after gas leak in area
Students at Larson Middle School in Grandview Heights have been moved to the district's high school Monday morning after a gas leak was reported in the area.
The gas leak was reported shortly before 9 a.m. Monday on Fairview Avenue near Larson Middle School.
Columbus fire officials and school officials made the determination to evacuate students from the middle school and take them to Grandview Heights High School. The district said the decision was made entirely as a precaution and there was no indication that there was any risk to students or staff.
In a Facebook post, the district said the fire department had done sweeps of Larson Middle School and Grandview Heights High School with gas readers and found there to be no gas fumes in the building.
Parents who have middle school students that need to be picked up early for appointments are asked to go to the high school's main office.
The gas leak occurred at a construction site near the school. No injuries were reported. The leak was expected to be resolved by noon Monday.
