Kentucky high school football roundup: Christian Academy, Holy Cross and Fairdale win

Cole Hodge passed for 190 yards and accounted for six touchdowns to lead the Christian Academy football team to a 56-16 victory at Eastern on Friday.

Hodge completed 5 of 11 passes, including four touchdowns, and also carried five times for 96 yards and two scores.

Connor Hodge, Justin Ruffin, Malachi Embers and Trey Cotton all had touchdown catches for the Centurions (10-0). Jeffrey Vazzana and Gavin Copenhaver added touchdown runs.

Eastern’s Quintel Thomas carried 38 times for 251 yards and two touchdowns.

CAL will host LaRue County in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs. Eastern will travel to Ryle for a first-round game in the Class 6A playoffs.

Holy Cross 38, Hancock County 30

Chris Perry rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass to lead the Cougars (7-3) over the host Hornets (6-4).

Perry carried 16 times and also completed 10 of 13 passes for 160 yards, including a 7-yard scoring pass to Rolen Royse in the second quarter that gave Holy Cross a 13-8 lead.

Tyler Ballard carried 10 times for 57 yards and a touchdown, and Jayse Hardesty had three receptions for 74 yards. Royse finished with four catches for 42 yards.

Nicholas Basham’s 10-yard touchdown run pulled Hancock County within 38-30 late in the fourth quarter, but Holy Cross was able to run out the clock.

Holy Cross will travel to Russellville in the first round of the Class A playoffs.

Great Crossing 49, Collins 7

Jakeece Patterson carried 21 times for 223 yards to lead the Warhawks (8-2) over the host Titans (6-4).

Great Crossing rolled up 518 yards of offense, including 381 on the ground. Isaiah Johnson pitched 54 yards and two touchdowns on five carries.

Kenyon Goodin’s 13-yard touchdown pass to Darius Evans gave Collins a 7-0 lead with 5:26 left in the first quarter, but Great Crossing dominated the rest of the way.

Goodin completed 5 of 10 passes for 53 yards and also rushed for 35 yards on 13 carries.

Fairdale 63, Waggener 0

Donnely Tran completed 8 of 9 passes for 133 yards and four touchdowns to lead the host Bulldogs (9-1) over the Wildcats (1-9).

All four of Tran’s touchdown passes went to Jaryah Jamison, who finished with four catches for 81 yards. Darnel Herzog (four carries, 71 yards, one TD) and Yanni Pearson (two carries, 42 yards, two TDs) led Fairdale’s ground attack.

Fairdale will host North Bullitt in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Nelson County 17, North Oldham 7

Evan Hicks scored two first-half touchdowns to help the Cardinals (7-3) beat the host Mustangs (4-6).

Jace Bullock’s 2-yard touchdown run with 10:00 remaining was the only score for North Oldham, which will travel to Valley for a first-round playoff game in Class 4A.

Campbellsville 34, Atherton 27

Landon Colvin and Kace Eastridge both rushed for two touchdowns to lead the host Eagles (7-3) over the Ravens (6-4).

Colvin carried eight times for 103 yards, and Eastridge rushed for 41 yards on eight attempts. Eastridge also threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Contreras.
