Kaleb Jackson, 2023 Baton Rouge four-star running back, commits to LSU football

Kaleb Jackson announced his commitment to LSU football on Tuesday morning on his Instagram page.

The four-star senior running back from Liberty Magnet in Baton Rouge, which is located just a couple of miles from LSU's campus, chose the hometown Tigers over offers from Alabama, Texas A&M and several others.

Jackson (5-foot-10, 200 pounds) is the No. 12 recruit in Louisiana according to the 247Sports Composite and ranks as the 192nd overall recruit in the 2023 class, the 12th best Louisiana prospect and sixth best running back in the country.

His commitment makes it two instate, four-star tailback prospects for first-year coach Brian Kelly, assistant coach Frank Wilson and the rest of the staff in the 2023 class, building quite a young tandem of players at that position.

Union Parish star running back Trey Holly pledged to LSU in May. Holly is the No. 15 recruit in Louisiana.

Jackson choosing LSU shows the new staff is regaining traction in Louisiana for top recruits, as he became the third commit for LSU from the state along with Holly and Ashton Stamps from Archbishop Rummel in New Orleans.

Kelly has 11 commitments for the 2023 and 2024 classes since the beginning of July.

Landing Jackson inched LSU up to the seventh overall in the 2023 class rankings. The Tigers have 15 total prospects committed, 11 of those rated four stars or higher.
