Jimmy Butler Debuts “Emo Jimmy” Hairstyle, Says Miami Heat Will Win NBA Finals

Jimmy Butler debuted a new look during an NBA Media Day and declared the Miami Heat would win the NBA Finals. On Monday (Oct. 2), the basketball star returned to the spotlight, transformed as “Emo Jimmy.” Butler entered the room, followed by scattered laughter from the media.

“Yeah, yeah, laugh it up,” he quipped before sitting at the microphone. One of the reporters asked what his new hairstyle was, to which he responded he was “emo, leave me alone.”

He continued elaborating on his emotional state and expressed that he’s “very emotional right now.” “This is my emo state, and I like this. This is me. This is how I’m feeling as of late… You never know how I’m going to wake up. This is how I feel today. We’ll see tomorrow. Tomorrow might be in all yellow,” he said.

His teammates were shocked to see his transformation. Heat center Bam Adebayo offered his opinion on Butler and jokingly called him “misunderstood.” “Ain’t no way that’s him,” Adebayo said, laughing. “What is wrong with him? That’s not real. He’s just misunderstood… If this is a phase, he’s going through at 34. I guess you’ve got to let him go through his phases.”

“He told me that’s his Halloween [costume] today,” Miami’s Tyler Herro said, detailing Jimmy’s new look.

As Jimmy’s time at the podium continued, he declared that the Heat would win the championship. “Yeah, we straight. Like I always say, I know what I’m capable of. I know what my guys are capable of. So, we’ll continue to play basketball as a unit, as a team. Somehow, some way, end up in the Finals. This time we’ll win it. And then y’all gonna say that you got lucky, so I’m prepared for it.

Butler’s sadness could be linked to Damian Lillard’s trade from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Milwaukee Bucks. Dame requested a trade from the Blazers and wanted to play with the Heat. However, on Wednesday (Sept. 27), Portland’s front office declined his trade and sent him to Milwaukee.
