Fesemyer still holds the 100-meter record (20.51 seconds) and the girls shot put record (19 feet, 6.50 inches), both in 2015, competing for Southeast High School with the coaching guidance of her mom, Cindy Fesemyer.

Jenna continued competing for the University of Illinois and has a resume that demonstrates her outstanding abilities including a gold and silver medal at the 2019 Parapan American Games in Lima, Peru; competing in the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, and counting herself among the top marathon competitors with a fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the New York Marathon in 2021 and 2022; sixth in the 2021 Boston Marathon, and third in the 2021 Chicago Marathon.

Now Fesemyer will share her expertise and experience with middle school and high school students with a permanent disability in the OHSAA Inaugural Wheelchair Track Clinic, set for Jan. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Franklin Park Adventure Center in Columbus.

Athletes will learn the biomechanics of wheelchair racing and strategies for improvement that can be utilized during track season and beyond. Adaptive equipment is not required for participation. Parents and coaches are welcome to join in the fun.

“I am honored to be collaborating with the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department to host the inaugural OHHSAA Wheelchair Track Clinic,” said Fesemyer. “This event is free to all middle school and high school athletes.”

Sponsors for the event include Shawn Ritchie of Ritchies Sporting Goods in Tallmadge, who is providing shirts for clinic participants. Additional sponsors include the OHSAA, Columbus Recreation and Parks, Adaptive Sports Club of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.
