Jameson Williams details ACL recovery timeline, availability for NFL training camps

Former Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams only spent one season with the Crimson Tide after transferring in as a junior from Ohio State, but one year was all he needed to win over the hearts of Alabama fans and the attention of NFL franchises.

His one and only season in crimson was a great one. Williams totaled 79 receptions for 1,572 yards (average of 19.9 yards per catch) and 15 touchdowns.

Williams was, at one point, expected to be the first wide receiver selected in the first round of the upcoming 2022 NFL draft.

In his final game, the national championship against Georgia, Williams went down early with a knee injury. It ended up being a torn ACL that required surgery.

Now 10 weeks removed from the surgery, Williams is no longer expected to be WR1 in the draft, but still projected to be drafted in the first round.

Though he was unable to participate in Alabama’s pro day or the NFL combine, Williams still had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with NFL scouts, coaches and front office members.

While at the Crimson Tide’s pro day, Williams explained that he is actually ahead of schedule in his rehab. He was originally expected to recover in five to seven months, but might be back sooner than that.

The speedy wide receiver also mentioned that he could be ready for the start of NFL training camp. For which team? He’ll find out in less than a month.

He did say, however, that he is waiting until he feels 100% before getting back out on the field.

According to Williams, representatives from the teams he has met with have not made too big of a deal about the injury, merely asking how he’s feeling or how the process has been.
