Ja'Marr Chase wins AFC Offensive Player of the Week after Bengals' Week 5 win
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was named the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week following his stellar performance against the Arizona Cardinals.
Chase, the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2021, caught 15 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 5 win. His 15 catches set a franchise record for most catches in a single game.
"He’s obviously one of the best in the league," Burrow said of Chase's performance. "So we’re going to continue to feed him. We’re going to find ways to move him around so teams can’t take him away. We’re going to continue to get better at that. He’s going to continue to do what he does.”
In large part due to quarterback Joe Burrow and Chase, the Bengals took a step forward on offense. The connection between Burrow and Chase is among the league's best and it was on display against the Cardinals. Chase and Burrow connected on a 63-yard touchdown play that showed Cincinnati's vertical passing attack is not lost.
The two-time Pro Bowler is one of two players in team history (A.J. Green) with consecutive 1000-yard receiving seasons to begin his career.
Chase joins Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice as the only players since 1950 with multiple games of 10-plus receptions, 190-plus receiving yards and three-plus receiving touchdowns, per NFL research.
