The Jalili family, which is behind several popular Springfield businesses like Flame steakhouse and Zan nightclub, is opening an event space in the Galloway neighborhood.

CreekSide, located at 3830 S. Lone Pine Ave., opened in March and can host things like weddings, birthday parties, private parties and more.

For more information about booking the CreekSide event center, call Flame steakhouse at 417-862-4444 or Char steakhouse 417-823-8383.

Members of the Jalili family sat down with the News-Leader recently to discuss some secrets to success in the business world.

"The biggest advice I can give is create an amazing chemistry in your organization," Mike Jalili said. "Positivity and chemistry is what makes you successful and, of course, hard work."

The Jalili family first started their Springfield business ventures with a nightclub called Stars, which eventually turned into Midnight Rodeo. After selling Midnight Rodeo, the Jalili family decided to open up Bijan's, a popular fine-dining restaurant. Later on, Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes was opened in the same location.

Before becoming entrepreneurs, brothers Mike and Billy Jalili started off as busboys — Mike in New York and Billy in Chicago. It was through that experience that the brothers learned the restaurant business and eventually worked their way up to being managers.

Mike and Billy Jalili eventually moved to Oklahoma to start a restaurant together before finding their way to Springfield.

"When we opened up Bijan's we didn't think one day we would be like this but as we went along we grew one after another," Billy Jalili said.

Sara Jalili told the News-Leader that in other cities restaurant owners can be competitive, but in Springfield, restaurant owners helped each other throughout the pandemic.

"Things are great, we love Springfield and Springfield supports us and I have amazing staff and managers that do a great job," Mike Jalili said. "Honestly without them we would not be where we are, all the credit goes to them."
