Reynoldsburg girls basketball coach Jack Purtell earned his 400th win with the Raiders on Friday night.

A 20-year run full of milestones at Reynoldsburg for Jack Purtell grew by one Friday night.

A 71-56 win at Groveport was the 400th with the Raiders for Purtell, who has led the program to four Division I state tournaments and its first championship last year.

He is 400-120 at Reynoldsburg and 520-211 overall, with the other wins coming in 11 seasons with the boys teams at Doylestown Chippewa and Coshocton.

Aubree Price had 20 points Friday to lead a balanced effort for the Raiders (12-5, 5-2). Sa’Mahn Johnson scored 16, Samara Savoy had 15 and Daniya McDonald added 12.

“Winning (No.) 400 in Reynoldsburg is a tribute to our administration, parents, community and, most importantly, our players,” Purtell said. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and I’m blessed to have had so many unselfish and great players during my tenure.”

This win came less than a year after Purtell’s 500th overall, which took place Feb. 8, 2022, against Lancaster.

Purtell took over at Reynoldsburg before the 2002-03 season and also is currently in his second stint as the school’s athletics director.

The Raiders previously reached state in 2010, 2012 and 2016 before defeating Mason 63-56 in overtime in last year’s title game.
