Jack Harlow visits 8 public schools in the Louisville area, takes selfies with students

Louisville rapper Jack Harlow made his rounds through Jefferson County Public Schools Thursday, answering questions, offering advice and taking selfies with students.

Harlow visited eight schools throughout the day, according to JCPS spokesperson Carolyn Callahan. Students were stunned to see the hometown hero: Some screamed and cried — one even dropped her lunch tray at Waggener High School, she said. It wasn't long before photos of his visits started popping up on social media.

"It was a really great experience for students to have Jack Harlow come back to JCPS," Callahan said. "He answered all of their questions and gave them advice. He told them to always work hard and push themselves to keep getting better at what they love to do."

Harlow chose to visit Atherton High and Highland Middle schools, where he was a student, but he chose six other schools at random, Callahan said.

The Twitter account for Manual's School of Journalism and Communications posted videos of Harlow taking selfies with students and talking to them. In one of the videos, the rapper tells the students that he went to Waggener and J-Town and "caught a vibe" and knew he had to go to their school. "There's good energy in here," he told them.

In many tweets, people are tagging the rapper and asking him to come to their school. One user said "@jackharlow please come to my school I’ll give u a dollar" followed by a crying emoji.

But Callahan said at 3 p.m. they were finishing the visits, and Harlow is shown in the video posted by Manual saying their school was the last one. Callahan said they had been visiting schools since 8 a.m.

The visits come one day before the release of Harlow's new album, which he announced on Wednesday. "Jackman," as the CD is titled, is already sparking a lot of conversation since the cover picture was taken in the Deer Park neighborhood. Harlow is also making his acting debut in the movie "White Men Can't Jump," which will be in theaters next month.
