Instant analysis and recap of Ravens 26-20 loss to Buccaneers in preseason finale
The Ravens finished the 2023 preseason 1-2 after Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask helped the Buccaneers jump out to an early 14-7 lead.
The former Oklahoma star and No. 1 overall pick was 6-6 passing for 43 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown toss to Chris Godwin.
Josh Johnson started at quarterback for Baltimore against Tampa’s first-team defense and looked sharp, going 6 of 9 passing for 95 yards and one touchdown before being replaced by Anthony Brown.
After a rocky start that included another turnover, Brown was sharp, rebounding to complete 12 of 21 passes for 171 yards.
With the roster cutdown date set for Tuesday afternoon, here’s an instant analysis of the preseason finale.
Justin Tucker erases all mistakes
Tucker nailed both of his field goals on the night, and is the one player that can rectify poor field position or a need for points late in a huge game.
Owen Wright
Wright may not make the 53-man roster, but he certainly put on a solid performance on Saturday night, rushing 12 times, for 89-yards and a touchdown.
Wright averaged 7.4 yards per carry on the night, and logged two receptions as well.
John Simpson
Simpson was a standout all training camp and preseason, earning the right guard job outright.

Ravens backup QB competition
Lamar Jackson is the unquestioned starter, and the idea is that Tyler Huntley will be the backup, but both Josh Johnson and Anthony Brown could have something to say.
