Update on injury to LSU baseball catcher Alex Milazzo in College World Series vs. Florida
LSU baseball catcher Alex Milazzo injured his leg avoiding a tag at home plate in the College World Series finale versus Florida on Monday in Omaha, Nebraska.
Milazzo landed awkwardly on the home plate in the top of the fourth inning. Florida catcher BT Riopelle missed the tag as Milazzo went airborne. It is unclear what injury Milazzo suffered, but he would leave the game and enter the dugout. He had to be helped off the field with the assistance of the training staff but returned to the dugout wearing an orthopedic boot.

Milazzo is hitting .281 on the year with a slugging percentage of .292. He has 15 RBIs on the year with no home runs but has 27 hits. According to the LSU baseball roster, Milazzo has three years of eligibility left.
Hayden Travinski would replace Milazzo at catcher when the bottom of the fourth started. LSU held a 10-2 lead going into the frame. Travinski is hitting .356 on the year in 101 at-bats with 10 home runs.
