The Indiana Fever waived Emily Engstler, the No. 4 overall selection in the 2022 WNBA draft.

Engstler, a New York native, played three college basketball seasons at Syracuse before transferring to Louisville for her senior year. During her time with the Fever, she averaged 5.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 blocks per game in 35 games during her rookie campaign.

By waiving Engstler, the Fever have now cut a top-4 pick in three straight seasons before the player's second year with the team. Lauren Cox was released in 2021 and Kysre Gondrezick was waived in 2022. Both Cox and Gondrezick are not currently on a WNBA roster.

Earlier this month, the Fever picked Aliyah Boston from South Carolina first overall in the draft and Indiana University's Grace Berger seventh overall.

Training camp for the Fever's 2023 season begins later this week.
