Humane Society of Summit County offering 50% off adoptions through end of July
With more than 250 cats and dogs available for adoption at the Humane Society of Summit County in Twinsburg, the shelter is offering 50% off the adoption fee for all animals more than 6 months old.
“The Humane Society of Summit County has taken in over 1,000 animals this year, and adoptions have not kept pace with the intake of vulnerable animals," Director of Operations Kristin Branagan said.
She said adopting a pet not only gives animals a permanent home, it also clears up space and resources for other animals.
"We need our community now more than ever to open their hearts and homes to our homeless animals," Branagan said.
The 50% discount runs through the end of July.
Normal canine adoption fees are $250 for dogs younger than 1-year-old, $150 for those ages 1 to 7 and $75 for dogs 8 and older.
Normal feline adoption fees are $65 for cats ages 6 months to 7 years and $40 for those 8 and older. Kittens are $100 or $150 for two.
Animals can be viewed online at www.summithumane.org/adopt and adoptions can be conducted by appointment by calling 330-487-0333.
Those who visit the humane society at 7996 Darrow Road will have the chance to meet a wide variety of dogs and cats.
All animals are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and preventative treatments, and are spayed or neutered, and microchipped prior to adoption. Adoption counselors work with interested adopters to help identify animals who are a good fit for their home and family.
The Humane Society of Summit County is a no-time limit shelter, caring for 2,500 animals each year. The humane society focuses its work on the animals of Summit County most in need: those who are victims of cruelty, neglect, and abandonment and strays suffering from illness or injury.

The organization provides a full range of veterinary services to rehabilitate and care for animals with serious medical issues. In addition to veterinary care and adoption services, the organization also employs humane officers to enforce laws protecting animals from abuse and offers behavioral support and training to socialize pets and help them be successful in their new home environments.
