A hot tub started on fire and flames spread to the exterior of the adjoining home early Saturday morning in Watertown.

The fire was reported at 4:15 a.m., and Watertown Fire Rescue responded to 45939 U.S. Highway 212.

"The homeowner had extinguished most of the fire preventing further damage. ... Crews examined the home interior to ensure there was no extension into the house. Crews spent about 45 minutes on scene searching for hot spots on the exterior of the home. Working smoke detectors played a role in alerting the home occupants, allowing them to extinguish the fire and remain safe," according to the release.

Nobody was injured. The home sustained some damage, but no estimate is available, according to the fire department.
