Honesdale's Rachael Collins is headed to Division I Monmouth University

Honesdale multi-sport standout Rachael Collins has announced that she will be continuing her academic and athletic career at the NCAA level. The talented Lady Hornet senior has signed her National Letter of Intent to attend Division I Monmouth University. There, she will compete in track & field and major in Elementary Education. The future is certainly looking bright for one of Honesdale's most talented student-athletes are she prepares to begin the next chapter in her life.

Multi-sport standout Rachael Collins has announced that she will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Monmouth University where she will be a member of the women's track & field team.

"I'm super-excited!" Rachael exclaimed. "Monmouth feels like a very good fit for me. I went for a visit back in the beginning of the Fall and I just fell in love with the beautiful area."

Rachael is the daughter of Michael and Erika Collins. She will go down in history as one of the the Lady Hornets' most versatile athletes having earned varsity letters in cross country, field hockey, track and basketball. After graduation, though, she'll be focusing on just track and academics.

Monmouth is an NCAA Division I school that competes in the Colonial Athletic Association. The school had a long association with the MAAC, winning eight consecutive league titles before switching affiliation. Collins will be arriving at Monmouth just as the Hawks embark upon this new era.

"As far as track goes, I think I'm most proud of breaking Honesdale's 200M record back in 2021 and being a district champion for the 400M in 2022," she said. "The coaches at Monmouth are great. I respect their philosophy and the individual attention they give each of their athletes."

Academically, Collins will pursue an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Monmouth.

"I enjoy working with kids so becoming a teacher fits me well," Rachael said. "I believe that Monmouth will put me on the right track to realizing that dream."
