Hollyoaks star Jude Monk McGowan posts an emotional farewell to Liam Donovan

From Digital Spy

Following his dramatic exit from the soap earlier this week, Hollyoaks star Jude Monk McGowan has bid an emotional farewell to his character on Instagram.

In shocking scenes this week, Liam Donovan was killed off in suitably grizzly fashion following his extravagant Devil's Dinner Party, where he finally revealed who shot Mercedes McQueen.

Fans saw Liam fall to his death after terrorising his enemies in a high-stakes hostage situation at The Dog. After falling from the top of the stairs into the pub's cellar, Liam suffered a fatal blow to the head.

Now, Jude has said his goodbyes to Liam, and to "the family" of Hollyoaks cast and crew, after two years on the Channel 4 soap.

In a touching Instagram post, Jude praised the "magnificent cast" and "brilliant crew", as well as director Graeme Harper. "Nothing lasts forever. The good and the bad," he wrote.

"(And I've had the pleasure of being both on this show!) I am very proud of the work we all did on my final block. Salutations to our wonderful Director Graeme Harper - All of the magnificent cast...and all the brilliant crew - they are special on this show!"

As well as thanking the "wonderful" viewers and fans for their support since Liam's demise, Jude reflected on his time as the devious Donovan and the "exceptional job" he had with Hollyoaks.

"Some jobs are just that, others leave marks you can't or won't fully appreciate until time has passed. This is one of those. I take with me all of the love I was fortunate enough to gain on this exceptional job," the actor wrote.

"All the laughter - which was constant. The friendships - of which there were/are many and I wish all of you love and luck and health."

From March 30, Hollyoaks airs Mondays-Wednesdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and from April 6, it will air on Mondays and Tuesdays at 6.30pm. First-look episodes will air on E4 at 7pm.
