Hello everyone !

First, on this September 11th, let us remember those who died and those who gave their lives saving others 21 years ago.

Here in Rhode Island this week, high school sports kicked into high gear all around the state. Soccer, football and tennis were some of the sports that were covered by Providence Journal photographers and writers. Our website providencejournal.com has an extensive sports section where you can follow all your favorite teams, from high school level all the way up to the pros.

As a recreational sport, bicycling is very popular in Rhode Island. All the bike paths around the state are very popular throughout the year. If there is no snow or ice, you can see bikers out during the winter months. Journal reporter Wheeler Cowperthwaite and photographer David DelPoio recently told the story of a bike shop that repairs and recycles bikes. Unfortunately, it is in danger of going out of business.

And going to any sports event, or riding a bike will work up an appetite. Journal food editor Gail Ciampa always has the latest on places to eat in our area. David shot pictures at Honeybird Kitchen and Cocktails where you can indulge in some heartwarming food.

The food at Honeybird Kitchen + Cocktails includes fried chicken and comfort food sides including creamed corn and buttermilk ranch slaw.
