HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Nauset High girls lacrosse rallies to defeat Cape Cod Academy

The Nauset High girls lacrosse team rallied from an 8-5 halftime deficit to defeat Cape Cod Academy, 13-10, on Thursday.

The win snapped a three-game skid against some of the Cape's top teams (Nantucket, Sandwich, Falmouth).

Sienna Reeves powered the offense with five goals and two assists, while Coral Punch added for goals. Julia Kipperman scored two goals. Josi Boskus and Shannon Brown each chipped in a goal.

Ella Bartolomei scored four goals and added two assists in the loss for the Seahawks. Reese Moreshead had a ht trick and Tilly Crosby finished with two goals. Quincy Powers had a goal and an assist. Flynn Kayajan (six saves) and Emma Davis (three saves) shared the goaltending duties.

Girls Lacrosse

Nantucket 16, Sandwich 12: Junior Bailey Lower (seven goals, five assists) tallied her 200th career goal in the win. Emerson Pekarcik added five goals and three assists, while Cydney Mosscrop (two goals) and Mayson Lower (goal, assist) had two-point days. Ryann Cobban scored five goals for the Blue Knights (11-2) in the loss while Riley Morrison added four. Quinn Anderson had a hat trick. Sophia Visceglio and Avery Cobban each had two helpers.

Monomoy 16, Falmouth Academy 6: Lucy Mawn scored four goals for the Sharks while Abnelle Long tallied a hat trick. Faye McGuire and Margaret Lowell both had hat tricks for Falmouth Academy (1-6), which was missing three sophomore starters due to a class trip.

Upper Cape Tech 15, Bristol-Plymouth 9: Adryanna Turner (seven goals) and Alaina Hines (six) starred for the Rams offensively.

Sturgis West 14, Sturgis East 4: Jillian Greene (four goals) and Jinpei Holmes (three goals, assist) both had four-point days in the win for the Navigators (5-3). Elena Collins and Melissa Bonnelly each chipped in two goals. Cora McDade, Zoe McHugh and Sophie Moerman each had one goal while Laila Baptiste made seven saves.

Boys Lacrosse 

St. John Paul II 7, Dennis-Yarmouth 4: Kyle Jaquello scored three goals for the Lions.

Monomoy 8, Falmouth Academy 2: The Sharks offense (8-3) was led by Tamer Khalil (four goals, three assists), Jackson Rocco (two goals, assist), Seamus St. Pierre (goal, assist), Owen Ramler (goal) and Braeden Darling (assist). The defense was led by Max Barrett, Braeden Darling, Jordan Charlot, Owen Dubis and Jackson Morneau. Jake Giorgio had five saves.

Nantucket 5, Sandwich 3: The Whalers fell behind 3-1 early, but responded with four unanswered goals. It's Nantucket's first win over the Blue Knights since 2015.

Softball 

Old Colony 9, Cape Tech 8: The Crusaders (2-10) scored four runs in the last inning to take a 8-6 lead, but gave up three on defense to end the game.

Bristol Aggie 22, Upper Cape Tech 4: Jaylynn Harraden and Lucy Peska both had two-RBI singles for the Rams (2-13).

Sturgis 16, St. John Paul II 0: Sophia Bruno (three innings) and Elsa Wiesner (two innings) starred on the mound and at the plate in the win for Sturgis (11-1).

Baseball

Nauset 11, Dennis-Yarmouth 2: Jack Cronan (seven innings, six strikeouts, one walk) pitched well as the Warriors (4-10) picked up their third consecutive win. Pete Murphy starred at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Duncan Lowery added a three-RBI double. John Richard and Daniel Julian scored runs to cut the deficit to 3-2, but Nauset exploded for eight runs in the seventh inning.

Old Colony 17, Cape Cod Tech 6: The Crusaders lost the Mayflower League game.

Upper Cape Tech 22, Bristol Aggie 2: Evan Bostwick and Rylan Tellier pitched well to lead the Rams (11-4). Patrick O’Rourke, Keirnan Ballard, Conner Guaculli, Harrison Gargan and Jared Coates powered the offense.

Boys Tennis 

Nantucket 5, St. John Paul II 0: The Whalers defeated the Lions.

Cape Cod Academy 4, Rising Tide 1: Ben Catalano (first), James Brunicardi (second) and Ayden Naydenov (third) swept the singles matches for the Seahawks (10-1). Tom Murray/Garrett Wilson won at first doubles.

Girls Tennis

St. John Paul II 4, Nantucket 1: The Lions defeated the Whalers.

Mashpee 5, Middleboro 0: Mariele Henley (first), Piper Milde (second) and Deliyah Forbes (third) swept the singles matches and Hannah Rogers/Jamie Hughes (first) and Alina Doolin/Grace Dion (second) took the doubles matches.

Barnstable 4, Saint John Paul II 1: Brendan Wojkowski and Colt Hill were standouts in the win for Barnstable.

Old Rochester Regional 3, Monomoy 0: The Sharks lost to the Bulldogs.

Boys Volleyball 

Brockton 3, Barnstable 0: The Red Hawks were swept on the road. In Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Durfee, Nik Brancaccio tallied 39 kills, while Brady Kundel had 19. Hunter Parent had 73 assists.
