HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Milton baseball and softball score thrilling victories
The Milton High baseball and softball teams defeated Natick in a pair of thrillers Wednesday.
In a 6-5 win on the softball field, Victoria Fish drove in a pair of runs on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh inning for the Wildcats (3-2), who rallied from a 5-1 deficit.
Cara Facey (2-for-3, 2 runs) and Shakura Lynch (2-for-3, steal) contributed on offense, and center fielder Sadie Steuterman twice threw out runners at the plate with catcher Lynch making the tag.
The Milton High baseball team's undefeated record was pushed to the brink.
But the defending Division 2 state champs improved to 11-0 with a nine-inning victory over Natick, 6-3.
Ryan Kelly improved to 2-0 on the season as he pitched two innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts. Owen McHugh (5⅓ innings, four strikeouts, two runs) and Andrew Hunt (1⅔ innings) also pitched well.

Harrison Hinckle starred offensively by going 4-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. KJ Beckett (double, RBI), Jack Finnegan (two hits, two RBIs) and Jimmy Fallon (run, two hit by pitches) led the way offensively.

BASEBALL
Bridgewater-Raynham 4, Durfee 0: Evan Samsel picked up the win on the mound as he allowed one hit over six innings for the Trojans (8-1). Luke Barry had two RBIs.
Oliver Ames 6, North Attleboro 4: Lucas Riley earned the win on the mound after returning from injury and chipped in with a hit and an RBI for the Tigers. Harrison Fitzpatrick (double, RBI, run), Patrick Finnerty (two hits, RBI, run), Matt Lawson (one hit, RBI) and Dave Rodgers (two runs, two stolen bases) chipped in offensively. Jack Morley made a pair of key plays in the bottom of the seventh inning to hold on for the win while adding an RBI and run scored.
East Bridgewater 6, Apponequet 2: Joey Foley and Ryan Hunter each drove in a pair of runs as the Vikings won the non-league game. Sean Kenn drew three walks and scored twice, and the brother combo of Ray McNaught (4 innings, 5 strikeouts) and Dave McNaught (3 innings, 3 strikeouts) starred on the mound.
Abington 7, Norwell 4: Steve Madden and Ryan Solimini combined to hold Norwell to four hits in the win. John Sellon had two hits and ended the game with a diving catch in center field.
Taunton 9, Stoughton 0: The Black Knights dropped the Hockomock League game.
Weymouth 8, Wellesley 0: Jack Reyes threw his second consecutive shutout as he struck out six and allowed just one hit. Gill Dolan had three hits while Andrew Ferguson and Jack Browning each had two RBIs. Matt Suplee had two hits.

Braintree 5, Newton North 2: The Wamps won the Bay State Conference game as Dan Surette tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Mashpee 9, Cohasset 6: The Skippers scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the rally fell short.
Milton Academy 8, Thayer Academy 6 (8 inn.): The Mustangs edged the Tigers in extra frames in an ISL matchup.
SOFTBALL
Abington 9, Norwell 0: Shannon Varvitsiotis struck out 10 and allowed just two hits in the win. Maddie Perry (2 hits, double, RBI, three runs) and Kasie Bailey (3-for-3, RBI, two runs) powered the offense.
South Shore Tech 16, Upper Cape Tech 2: Zoey Brady, Lexi Mitsiopoulos and Mia Bradshaw all had 3-for-4 days at the plate while Hannah Dailey had the win in the circle.
Durfee 10, Brockton 8: The Boxers fall to 5-3.

Carver 8, Rockland 6: The Crusaders rallied from a 6-1 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the win. Kayleigh Friberg had two hits in the win while Madison Mills went 3-for-4 for the Bulldogs.
Milton Academy 12, Thayer Academy 5: Nia Phillips allowed one earned run and struck out 16 batters while helping her cause by scoring a pair of runs for the Mustangs (5-3). Sophia Crowley went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs.
Taunton 10, Stoughton 2: The Black Knights dropped the Hockomock League game.
Braintree 15, Newton North 2: Ally McNamee struck out 10 batters over five innings on the mound and went 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs. Eva Surette went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, three runs scored and three walks.
Wellesley 19, Weymouth 11: Grace McCulley, Paige Sellon and Bella Pires had big days offensively.
Dover-Sherborn 11, Blue Hills 7: The Warriors dropped the non-league game.
Malden Catholic 12, Fontbonne 9: Ava Donaghue led Fontbonne's offense with a triple, home run and four RBIs. Emma Jolley had a triple and a pair of RBIs. Darcy LeFever, Emme Finnigan and Greta McEvoy each had a pair of hits.
South Shore Tech 16, Upper Cape Tech 2: Zoey Bradshaw, Lexi Mitsiopoulos and Mia Bradshaw each went 3-for-4 for the Vikings, and Hannah Dailey was the winning pitcher.
BOYS LACROSSE
Archbishop Williams 17, Cardinal Spellman 7: Sean Logan (assists), Jake CaraDonna (assist), Henri Barriere and Shamus O'Toole all had hat tricks in the win for the Bishops. Zac McClay had two goals and four assists. Matt O'Donnell scored four goals in the loss for the Cardinals.
Duxbury 13, Plymouth North 1: Gavin Nagle, Wyatt Glass, TJ Pikul and Colin Hulett all had two-goal games for the Dragons.
Whitman-Hanson 11, Pembroke 1: Nate Holmes scored the lone goal for the Titans.
Hingham 17, Silver Lake 1: Brendan Prestia and Connor Cummings both had their first career goals in the win.
Marshfield 12, Plymouth South 6: Freshman John Sullivan had a hat trick in the win for the Rams.
Bridgewater-Raynham 8, Canton 7: Jayson Kelleher scored four goals and added an assist for the Trojans (5-3). Colin Fitzsimmons was 14-for-19 on faceoffs while Matt Powers, Nick Rossi and James Murray all chipped in one goal apiece.
South Shore Tech 11, Blue Hills 5: The Vikings won the Mayflower League battle.
Scituate 16, Quincy/North Quincy 5: The Sailors (5-3) won a Patriot League game behind big games from James Sullivan (six goals, assist) and Will Robinson (five goals, assist).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Hanover 10, Quincy 3: The Hawks won the Patriot League game as Ella Heyl made 15 saves and Sophia Schiller had five points (4 goals, assist).
Whitman-Hanson 11, Pembroke 1: Ella Nagle (6 goals) and Liv Godwin (9 saves) starred as the Panthers (5-1, 2-1) won the Patriot League game. Maddy Allen and Liv Mara each scored twice.
Archbishop Williams 18, Cardinal Spellman 10: Sophomore Clare O'Keefe scored her 100th career goal in the win for the Bishops. Avery Valicenti led the way with 6 goals, followed by Caroline Batchelder (5), Clare O'Keefe (4), Evelyn Lacey (2) and Shea Nolan.
Hingham 12, Silver Lake 2: Neely Sgobbo led the way with five points while Stella Brazis and Caroline Connolly both had four points for the Harborwomen (6-4). Lily Samoska made six saves. Maggie Keller made 10 saves in the loss.
Marshfield 13, Plymouth South 4: The Rams defeated the Panthers in the Patriot League game.
Thayer Academy 10, Milton Academy 8: The Tigers won the ISL game.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Braintree 3, Norwood 1: The Wamps won the non-league game (25-17, 18-25, 25-18, 25-13).
North Quincy 3, Greater New Bedford Voke 0: The Raiders earned the sweep (25-14, 25-15, 25-18).
Barnstable 3, Quincy 2: The Presidents (6-4) lost the five-set thriller (26-28, 22-25, 28-26, 25-13, 15-9). Quincy had 43 kills on 38 assists and 81 digs as a team.
GIRLS TENNIS
Norwell 5, Abington 0: The Clippers won the South Shore League game.
North Attleboro 4, Oliver Ames 1: OA's lone point came from the second doubles team of Marina Mierzwinski and Ella Mierzswinski.
Notre Dame Academy 5, Mount Alvernia 0: Amelia Maw, Sophia Lirio and Gabi Marchione won in singles, and NDA swept the doubles with the teams of Bella LaGrassa/Meghan Ravanesi and Lily Studebaker/Skye Bunge.
Braintree 3, Newton North 2: The Wamps swept the singles matches with captains Haily Pham (No. 1) and Jolin Yang (No. 2) and sophomore Emma Townsend (No. 3).
BOYS TENNIS
Norwell 4, Mashpee 1: The Clippers won the South Shore League game.
Rockland/East Bridgewater 4, Middleboro 1: Petr Quinn (second) and Leo Monteiro (third) won singles matches while Logan Maguire/Kaden Gerstel (first) and Will Cifrino/Mo Asad (second) won doubles matches.
GIRLS GOLF
Duxbury 6, Scituate 0: Harper Capilli (2-up), Layla Penn (3-2), Mary Kate Higgins (4-2), Caroline Donovan (4-2) and Hailey Flynn (5-4) all won their matches.
Quincy/North Quincy 4, Silver Lake 2: QNQ's Mia Pecevich won her match by draining a clutch putt on the ninth hole. Ruby Levine, Madison O’Connor and Jenna Zarges all took their matches in the victory.
BOYS TRACK & FIELD
East Bridgewater 129, Cohasset 7: Chris Oman was a triple-event winner (long jump, 200m, 100m) and set a new school record in the 100m in 10.9 seconds. Brennan Shea and Michael Mondesir were double winners.
Hingham 83, Silver Lake 53: Winners for Hingham were: Ryan Gates (400m hurdles), Sam Reffue (100m), Bryce Botelho (200m), Brendan Burm (2-mile), Griffin Coppola (400m), AJ Barrett (110m hurdles) and both relay teams.
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
Needham 79, Weymouth 52: In the loss, the Wildcats (0-3) got wins from sophomores Ainsley Weber (javelin, 116-9); Casey Dempsey (triple jump, 34-6); Ella Bates (2-mile, 11:31.0); and Izzy Galusha (400m, 1:02.0).
Bridgewater-Raynham 86, Brockton 50: Nethica Auguste won the long jump, triple jump and 100 meters for B-R (3-0), which also had double-winners in Camden Strandberg (high jump, mile); and Eleesia Ketchuck Millan (400m hurdles, 100m hurdles). Other winners for the Trojans: Naisha Auguste (shot put); Kayla O’Hara (javelin); Ieva Piragis (400m); Brenna Woodbury (800m); and Tessa Bringardner (2-mile).
Notre Dame Academy 108, Fontbonne Academy 13: Winners for NDA included: Katie McCormack (100m, long jump); Shaelyn Taylor (100m hurdles, shot put); and Ella Connolly (triple jump).
