HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Freshman delivers Norwell baseball walk-off win over Middleboro
The Norwell High baseball team earned a well-deserved break on Thursday.
Just two days after losing to East Bridgewater, 12-0, the Clippers defeated Middleboro, 8-7, in nine innings. Norwell will get to bask in the glory of that win until next Friday, when the Clippers head to Monomoy for a non-league game.
Freshman Will Corbin delivered a walk-off single to lift the Clippers to the South Shore League win. Griffin Link and Jake Horwitz also played well as Norwell improved to 2-2.

BASEBALL
Archbishop Williams 14, Matignon 3: Greg Mayo earned the win on the mound (four innings, one earned run, five strikeouts) for the Bishops (1-2). Stephen Ondrick was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Bryan Cahill also had two RBIs.

Abington 10, Cohasset 0: John Sellon improved to 2-0 on the season as he struck out eight batters in a complete-game shutout for the Green Wave (3-1). Pat Cummings and Ryan Solimini both had two hits and two RBIs.
Brockton 11, Quincy 1: Dominic Hopkins earned the win on the mound as the Boxers improve to 3-1.
Rockland 17, Hull 2: The Bulldogs improve to 2-2 on the season behind a big day from Ian White. White was 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs at the plate. He struck out 11 through five innings of one-run ball on the mound.
Attleboro 11, Oliver Ames 6: The Tigers lost the Hockomock League game.
Westport 4, West Bridgewater 0: Brayden Ross pitched well in the loss (five innings, three hits, one run, six strikeouts, three walks). Jag Garces had WB's lone hit.
Arlington Catholic 19, Cardinal Spellman 2: The Cardinals dropped the Catholic Central League game.
SOFTBALL
Bridgewater-Raynham 14, Braintree 4: Ava Selter led the Trojans offense by going 4-for-5 with a three-run home. Olivia Roy (triple, three RBIs) and Holly Clary (double, RBI) both went 4-for-5 while Emma Flaherty and Ky Hicks (two RBIs) both had three-hit days.
Middleboro 16, Norwell 0: The Sachems won the South Shore League game.
Westport 10, West Bridgewater 9: Neala Boyd (three hits, three RBIs) and Cassidy Perrault (two hits, four RBIs) had big offensive days in the loss for the Wildcats.
Archbishop Williams 23, Matignon/St. Joseph's Prep 4: Monica Kelly was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, grand slam and drove in nine RBIs for the Bishops. Regan Parr went 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBIs.
Diman 9, Blue Hills 7: Diman won the Mayflower League battle.
Attleboro 1, Oliver Ames 0: Katie Melendy pitched six strong innings in the loss for the Tigers. OA out-hit Attleboro, 5-1, and the Bombardiers lone run was unearned in the first inning. Emily Martin had two hits.
Westwood 2, Fontbonne 0: Rebecca Tse starred defensively at catcher and had a single in the loss for the Ducks. Emma Jolley was 1-for-1 with a walk.
BOYS LACROSSE
Needham 17, Milton 6: The Wildcats dropped the Bay State Conference game.
Plymouth North 8, Pembroke 4: Ryan Conway, Jack Conway, Stevie Johnson and Brandon Perry scored for the Titans in the loss.
Hingham 16, Scituate 10: The Harbormen won the Patriot League battle. Peter Cappadona scored four goals in the loss.
Oliver Ames 10, Middleboro 0: Shawn Teehan led the way for the Tigers with four goals while Ben Reardon and Ryan Jaco each had two. Noah Isleib made eight saves and was aided by the defense of Jack Corey, Landon Grothe, Liam Dunlap, Lawrence Dear and Bryce Deibel.
Cohasset 14, Foxboro 5: Freshman Gus Greene scored four second-half goals while the Skippers didn't surrender a goal in the second half. Liam Appleton also tallied four goals.
Hanover 13, Whitman-Hanson 5: The Hawks won the Patriot League game.
BC High 19, Saint John's (Shrewsbury) 5: The Eagles rolled in the Catholic Conference battle.
Plymouth South 7, Silver Lake 5: Noah Pelleschi scored a hat trick in the loss.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Weymouth 21, Brookline 11: Cameron Flaherty scored a career-high 10 points (five goals, five assists) for the Wildcats. Megan Doyle stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, 20 draw controls and six ground balls. Mira Flaherty added five goals. Sammy Holmes and Meghan Connolly each had two points and Kira Keenan scored one goal.
Norwell 15, Nantucket 7: Maddie McDonald (four goals, three assists), Margot Bonnevie (four goals, two assists) and Danielle Cox (four goals, three draw controls) led the Clippers (4-1) to a non-league win. Holly Panttila scored twice and added 10 draw controls, and Charlotte Pithie made 10 saves.
Hingham 10, Scituate 6: The Harborwomen won the Patriot League game.
Duxbury 15, North Quincy 2: The Dragons won the Patriot League game.
Marshfield 9, Quincy 7: The Rams won the Patriot League game.
Cardinal Spellman 18, East Bridgewater 5: Elle Murphy (seven goals) and Erin O'Donnell (six) starred offensively for the Cardinals while goaltender Ava Smith earned her first varsity win. Peyton Galgana and Grace Foster each scored their first varsity goal.
Foxboro 9, Cohasset 8: The Skippers lost in overtime.
GIRLS TENNIS
Bridgewater-Raynham 5, Durfee 0: Nicole Kimball (first), Holly Nichols (second) and Catherine Taylor (third) swept the singles for the Trojans while Annaliese Colwell/Marlena Colwell (first) and Eily Mitchell/Lily Cooley (second) took the doubles matches for B-R.
North Quincy 5, Quincy 0: The Raiders swept the Patriot League match.
Norwell 5, Middleboro 0: The Clippers swept the South Shore League match.
Oliver Ames 4, Attleboro 1: Olivia Querzoli (second) and Hannah Farber (singles) won singles matches for the Tigers. Marina/Ella Mierzwinski won at first doubles.
BOYS TENNIS
North Quincy 5, Quincy 0: The Raiders swept the Patriot League match.
Norwell 4, Middleboro 1: The Clippers took the South Shore League match. Junior Alden Birkett won at third singles for the Sachems.
GIRLS GOLF
Weymouth 3.5, Quincy/North Quincy 2.5: The Wildcats won the non-league match.
