HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Dennis-Yarmouth boys hockey team remains unbeaten behind senior stars

Senior captains Cam Cavatorta and John Valerio each scored twice to lead Dennis-Yarmouth/Cape Cod Tech/Cape Cod Academy to a 6-2 win over Blue Hills in boys hockey action on Wednesday.

Robbie McPhee and Aidan Powers each added a goal for D-Y/CCT/CCA (6-0-1). Andrew Popovich handed out two assists and Steven Swanson, Julian Cavatorta and Valerio each contributed an assist.

Boys Hockey

Nauset 2, Sandwich 1: The Warriors (5-1-0) scored the game-winning goal with 3.3 seconds left for their second straight win. James Mawhinney scored the lone goal with assists from Avery Richardson and Shane Corcoran for Sandwich (4-2-0)

Bourne 3, East Bridgewater 1: Domenic Bonito scored two goals for the Canalmen in a home win. Ty Kelley dished out two assists and James Crowell scored a goal and dished out an assist for Bourne (5-1-0).

Martha’s Vineyard 9, St. John Paul II 1: The Vineyarders (1-3-0) picked up their first win of the season.

Nantucket 6, Old Rochester 3: The Whalers (2-3-0) picked up their second win of the season.

Girls Hockey

Sandwich 3, Cape Cod Furies 1: Adrianna Kelsch scored twice for the Knights as they beat the Furies. Katie Barrett scored and dished out an assist, and Darby Rounseville, Emily Souke and Olivia O'Brien each had an assist for Sandwich (3-2-0). The Furies (4-2-1) have now lost two in a row after a 4-0-1 start.

Barnstable 7, Nantucket 2: Ally McEneaney and Claire Hazard each scored two goals and added an assist for the Red Hawks as they beat the Whalers. Molly Hudson, and Penny Baroni each scored a goal and handed out an assist for Barnstable (3-2-1). Penny Clifford chipped in a goal, Grace Holden had three assists, and Ryley King and Miranda Anacki also contributed an assist.

Martha’s Vineyard 7, D-Y/CCA/JPII 0: The Vineyarders (2-1-2) got their second win of the season with a win over D-Y/CCA/JPII (1-4-0).

Plymouth North/Plymouth South 2, Falmouth 2: The Clippers still have no losses as they ended in a tie with Plymouth to move to 2-0-2.

Girls Basketball

Falmouth 35, Old Rochester 31: Hailey Lynch made a 3-pointer with the Clippers down 31-30 with 37 seconds left and then iced the game with two free-throws. Lynch finished with 13 points, and Teagan Lind filled the stat sheet with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals for Falmouth (3-1). Christina Femino pulled down 8 rebounds, and Elizabeth Janes added 6 rebounds.

Bourne 50, Upper Cape 31: Paige Meda scored 18 for the Canalwomen for their fourth straight victory. McKinley Wenzel had 12 points for Bourne (5-1).

Wareham 42, Sturgis West 22:: The Navigators (0-3) lost to the Vikings on the road.

Hull 60, Falmouth Academy 8: The Mariners (1-3) drop their third straight with a loss to the Pirates.

Boys Basketball

Mashpee 61, St. John Paul II 43: Michael Barron and Ryan Triveri had 18 points apiece for the Falcons in a win over the Lions. Preston Joia and Dantae Clarke combined for another 14 points for Mashpee (3-4). Barron also played well on defense, and Charlie Lyons played solid. Zane Thomas finished with 17 points and Dan Cordeiro added 14 points for JPII (0-4).

Bourne 71, Upper Cape 23: Nate Reynolds scored 21 points to lead the Rams to a win over the Rams for their sixth straight win. Dom Quelle had 18 points, and Leo Andrade added 11 points for Bourne (6-1). Upper Cape (3-3) loses back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Old Colony 57, Sturgis West 35: The Navigators (0-5) lose their fifth straight.
