Here's a taste of what Doylestown's new Terrain Cafe at DelVal has to offer
Wicker chairs and colorful pillows sit around tables in a room brightened by natural light.
Ferns and orchids cascade from moss-filled baskets, garland is strewn with fairy lights and succulents rise out of driftwood-style planters.
These were just a few of the details curated to make each visitor forget where they are.
Inside Terrain Cafe, the newest restaurant to open in Doylestown, farm-to-table dishes, garden-inspired cocktails and lush greenery blend together to create a dining experience on par with the overall Terrain brand — a comfortable, yet stylish outdoor living vibe.
All together the new Terrain comprises the cafe, retail garden center and event space.
“It’s a place to shop, eat and celebrate milestones,” said Beth Smith, managing director of Terrain.
The cafe offers brunch and dinner seven days a week, featuring a menu that rotates seasonally with dishes like the beet and burrata salad, shrimp and heirloom grits, wild mushroom frittata and Oishii shrimp, served atop melted leek and spinach risotto, white asparagus and micro herbs.
Setting this cafe apart from its other locations, Terrain Cafe in Doylestown includes a private dining area, as well as a full-service 17-seat bar.
Specialty coffee drinks, cocktails, beer, wine, tea and lemonade round out the menu, which includes non-alcoholic “garden sips,” like watermelon mint refresher, blackberry bramble and orange turmeric sunrise.
Located at Delaware Valley University off Lower State Road, it is also the first Terrain set on a college campus against the backdrop of a working farm.
“It’s a site we’ve always wished for. It’s incredibly inspiring,” said Emily Smith, director of operations for Terrain Cafe.
“Through the years, we’ve always strived for farm-to-table, so to be able to bring the tables to the farm is pretty awesome,” she said.
What is Terrain?
Terrain is an outdoor lifestyle garden center, cafe and event space.
The retail store sells garden, home and outdoor lifestyle products, including native plants, planters, all-weather furniture, seasonal décor, outdoor lighting and artisan-made gifts. It also features a DelVal section of fresh goods produced on campus.

Terrain Cafe offers a greenhouse dining experience using local produce, meats and dairy products to create seasonal menus, and includes a bar area serving garden-inspired cocktails.
Terrain Gardens is a large farmhouse-inspired venue which includes an outdoor ceremony garden overlooking the Delaware Valley University orchards, an indoor space with two large rooms and a covered porch.
When is Terrain Cafe in Doylestown open?
Brunch: Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dinner: Sunday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday through Saturday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Does Terrain Café offer happy hour?
Happy hour specials featuring small plates and select cocktails, beer and wine are offered at the Terrain Cafe bar from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Are reservations accepted at Terrain Cafe?
Reservations are encouraged and available for parties up to four. For large parties, call the cafe directly.
What type of events can the private dining area accommodate?
The private dining area, called The Garden Atrium at Terrain Cafe, is available for small events such as baby showers, birthdays and other small gatherings up to 38 guests.
