Here's what a $500k house looks like around Indiana

The past few years have been a roller coaster for Indiana real estate, with a massive seller's market being met with historically high-interest rates designed to slow inflation and level the market.

The median home in Central Indiana cost $277,000, which is on the decrease.

Here is the first in a recurring series looking at some representative homes at various price points around the state. This edition looks at homes currently for sale in the $500,000 range.

Indianapolis

For $500k you could own this newly renovated 3,000-square-foot home built in 1917.

West Lafayette

In West Lafayette we found this newer home, built in 2020, overlooking a pond in the Oak Ridge neighborhood. Coming in at over 3k square feet, it has large bedrooms, a loft area and 2 1/2 bathrooms.

It has a fireplace, formal dining room and a new irrigation system outside.

Muncie

This 1928 home in Muncie has plenty of character and unique features. Private courtyards with fountains, a pool house with a therapy pool and complete guest suite, and a 2-car garage are just a few of the things you can get for under $500K. This 4-bedroom property is coming in at $470K and includes recent upgrades like a refurbished slate roof, fresh paint and basement waterproofing.

Bloomington

This property on the south east side of Bloomington is nearly 4k square feet, with stainless steel appliances and a list of recent upgrades.
