How you get the girl? Travis Kelce’s suit could be nod to Taylor Swift and ‘1989’ album

Before TV viewers saw Sunday that Taylor Swift was at the Kansas City Chiefs game, the man she was there to see walked into the stadium wearing a hint of things to come.

Tight end Travis Kelce did his usual pre-game runway strut into GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium wearing a blue-and-white denim suit that immediately divided public response on social media.

Yuck, said some of the non-Swifties who did not recognize the suit as a man-sized Easter egg that paid homage to Swift.

The pop star is known for leaving hints and puzzles for fans in songs and videos.

Kelce wore the 1989 Bedroom Painting Set from Kid Super Studios — 1989 as in the name of Swift’s fifth studio album, and her next highly anticipated re-recorded album, “1989 (Taylor’s Version),“ due on Oct. 27. Swift has been wearing light blue lately to celebrate the coming album and what fans have dubbed the official color of the 1989 era.

Cosmopolitan magazine dubbed Kelce’s look “a truly iconic move that has an impressive and wholesome lack of chill.”

The grafitti-like blue pattern on the cream-colored pants and boxy cut jacket looks like splashes of paint, which prompted critics to wonder if Kelce had been doing some DIY work before heading to Arrowhead — or if Swift handpainted it herself.

But Swifites immediately recognized the significance of the blue color and considered it a sly promotion of the imminent

release of the album with five new vault tracks.

They also know that both Swift and Kelce were born in 1989.

“It’s giving 1989 vibes,” one Swiftie wrote of the suit on social media.

“You can literally see Taylor’s face embroidered in there,” wrote another.

Is she supposed to be the naked lady outlined on one of the pant legs?

Swift’s fashion Sunday — including her classic red lip that just happens to also be Chiefs-colored — also grabbed attention from Swifties, many clamoring to know where they could get the Chiefs jacket she wore.

The Instagram account @taylorswiftstyled reported that the jacket hasn’t been released yet — by sports apparel company New Era Cap.

Kelce wore the blue-and-white outfit after the game, too, as he and Swift rode away from the stadium in his vintage convertible.

By Monday morning, the Kid Super website reported that stock was low in both the $295 jacket and $285 pants.
