See it: Giants rookie WR Jalin Hyatt catches first preseason TD pass

New York Giants rookie receiver Jalin Hyatt rebounded from a dropped pass by showing off his patented speed and big-play ability on a 33-yard touchdown pass from veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor midway through the second quarter of Friday night’s preseason showdown with the Carolina Panthers.

Hyatt, the 73rd overall pick in the 2023 draft, lined up in the slot in a trips formation. He got a free release and ran a corner route against the Panthers safety, and Taylor hung in the pocket long enough for Hyatt to separate downfield.

The result was an easy touchdown for the rookie. The score gave the Giants a 14-3 lead over the Panthers.

Hyatt was a big-play creator at Tennessee, mostly due to his game-breaking speed as a vertical receiver. The Giants will be getting plenty of big plays out of the first-year speedster if he’s given this much space to run during the regular season.
