Garrett Nussmeier explains why he didn’t transfer from LSU

There were a lot of questions this offseason and last season about whether Garrett Nussmeier would transfer away from LSU. With Jayden Daniels running the show, that means Nussmeier will be the backup for at least one more year.

Transferring is an option that a lot of backups will take these days. If you aren’t getting playing time where you’re at, go somewhere that you will be able to play. Nussmeier is talented enough that he could have gone to a number of places and be a starter. When asked why he stayed, here is what he had to say.

“It matters to me to wear this state on my chest,” he said. “I think it means something to a lot of guys on our team. I was born in Lake Charles. My family is in Lake Charles. Being a kid who moved around so much —Louisiana was only constant in my life and every time I would cross over the border into this state, it felt like home.”

It seems he has a very solid reason for why he chose to stay. He’s a Louisiana man through and through.
