Gainesville schools: Bishop Middle teacher wins Amazing Teacher of the Month award

Bishop Middle School technology-digital design TV production teacher Chris Mudra has received a $5,000 check for winning the Amazing Teacher of the Month award from Gannett and the Florida Credit Union.

Teachers nationwide are eligible to be nominated for the award. Gannett, which owns the Gainesville Sun, sponsors the contest in many of its markets, with local partners as sponsors. One winner per month is selected locally and nationwide. Mudra won the national prize.

One of Mudra's students nominated him for the award. On Sept. 23, representatives from Gannett and the Florida Credit Union visited his classroom to present the winning check.
