Gadsden Humane Society plans Thanksgiving for animals, other events
The Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center in Gadsden has several events planned over the next month, according to a press release.
The first will be a Thanksgiving meal for every animal in the shelter and will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 20. The meals all will be pet-safe. Among the foods to be prepared will be shredded turkey, sweet potatoes, dog-food gravy, carrots, green beans, pumpkin and cranberries, the release said.
The public is invited to volunteer and join the Humane Society staff in fixing and serving the food to the animal residents, according to the release. In addition, donations are encouraged to help cover the cost of the meals. With about 250 animals in the shelter and an estimated $2 per meal, the event's cost will be about $500.
In addition to helping feed the animals, it is hoped that some of the animals will be adopted into their forever homes during the event. The Humane Society is located at 4200 Brooke Ave. in Gadsden. For more information on the Thanksgiving meal, visit https://bit.ly/3qIkGAF.
