Furman football cracks FCS Top 25 rankings
The Furman football team on Monday returned to the FCS rankings for the first time since the Spring 2020 season.
The Paladins (6-2, 4-1 SoCon) are No. 24 in the Stats Perform Top 25 after defeating VMI 41-3 for their third consecutive victory. Furman opened the Spring 2020 season at No. 10 in the Stats poll but slid during the season before falling out April 5, 2020, after losing their third game of the season.
Furman has a formidable challenge in its first week back in the Top 25. The Paladins host No. 7 Chattanooga (6-1, 4-0) on Saturday (2 p.m., WYCW) for homecoming. According to Furman, this will be the first time since 2018 that the program played a Top 10 team at Paladin Stadium. Furman defeated Wofford in that game, 34-14.

There are two other SoCon teams in the rankings -- No. 13 Samford and No. 16 Mercer, which handed the Paladins their SoCon loss.
