Full 2021-22 Lakers roster tracker

After one of the busiest offseasons in the league, the Los Angeles Lakers roster is settling in as the new season gets underway.

The Lakers moved on from many former players, either via trade or letting them walk in free agency.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell and Marc Gasol were key departures via trade.

Free agents Alex Caruso, Dennis Schroder, Andre Drummond, Ben McLemore, Markieff Morris, Devontae Cacok and others were not retained.

Wesley Matthews was not brought back and is still a free agent.

The Lakers have only LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Talen Horton-Tucker returning from last season. Let’s track all the new and familiar faces who arrived this summer.

1. LeBron James

James is the engine that keeps the Lakers churning. He’ll enter his 19th season and hopes to add another title to his Hall-of-Fame resume.

2. Anthony Davis

Davis is hoping to rebound after an injury-riddled season and be the frontcourt key to this team’s success.

3. Talen Horton-Tucker

The 20-year-old Talen Horton-Tucker is the last player to return from 2020-21. He re-signed to come back on a three-year deal worth over $30 million.

4. Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook will be the third star on the roster after arriving via trade from the Washington Wizards.

5. Kendrick Nunn

Kendrick Nunn, 26, joins the team as the splashiest free-agent signing made by L.A. in the summer. Nunn is on a two-year deal and will likely come off the bench behind Westbrook.

6. Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony, 37, signed a one-year deal for the veteran’s minimum and will be a key shooting threat with James, Davis and Westbrook.

7. Trevor Ariza

Trevor Ariza signed a one-year deal for the minimum after playing with the Miami Heat.

8. Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard returned to the Lakers for the third time in his career on a one-year deal for the minimum.

9. Wayne Ellington

Wayne Ellington returned to the Lakers for the second time in his career and will be a valuable presence with his 3-point prowess. He signed a one-year deal for the minimum.

10. Kent Bazemore

Kent Bazemore signed a one-year deal for the minimum and will be extremely resourceful as a solid 3-point shooter and versatile defender.

11. Malik Monk

Malik Monk, 23, signed a one-year deal for the minimum. He’s a four-year veteran who had a mini breakout season last year for the Charlotte Hornets.

12. Rajon Rondo

Rajon Rondo was recently bought out by the Memphis Grizzlies, so the Lakers signed him on a one-year, minimum deal.

13. DeAndre Jordan

DeAndre Jordan was recently bought out by the Detroit Pistons and signed a one-year deal for the minimum with the Lakers.

14. Austin Reaves

Austin Reaves, a 23-year-old rookie, recently had his two-way contract converted to a two-year deal with a team option for the second year. He’ll have the 14th spot.

15. Empty

General manager Rob Pelinka said the 15th spot will likely be empty as the team hopes to monitor the buyout market down the road.

16. Joel Ayayi, two-way

Joel Ayayi, a 21-year-old rookie, is on a two-way contract with the team. He’ll spend a good chunk of his time with the South Bay Lakers of the G League.

17. Empty

Following Reaves’ promotion, the Lakers have an empty two-way spot to fill.
