3 injured in freight train accident on CSX tracks in Spencer

SPENCER — Three workers were injured when a freight train slammed into another on the CSX line early Sunday.

Officials said the injuries were not life-threatening, with the crew members rushed to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

The accident occurred after midnight near Gauthier Road.

The injured workers were initially trapped, pulled from the damaged cars by firefighters, according to Spencer Fire and Emergency Services.
