Fort LeBoeuf's Hayden Skinner leads Erie County at indoor state track meet
STATE COLLEGE — Fort LeBoeuf's Hayden Skinner was one of four District 10 athletes who shared the highest finish during Sunday's Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association Indoor Championship.
The competition, held just over a week before PIAA outdoor track and field programs can start spring workouts, took place at Penn State University's Multisport Indoor Facility.
Skinner finished fourth in the boys 60-meter hurdles, his specialty track discipline. The Bison senior was timed at 8.30 seconds.
Jake Rose of Southern Columbia was the gold medalist at 7.96.
The district's other fourth-place medalists were Mercer County students. Grove City's Josh Dreves cleared 6 feet, 2 inches in the high jump and Hickory's Luca Bertolasio landed at 22-4¼ in the long jump. Wilmington's Lindsey Martineau took fourth in the 60 hurdles (9.20).
Skinner was one of two Bison who competed Sunday. Audrey Friedman competed in the girls shot put. The Penn State University field recruit, whose specialty is the javelin, placed 18th in the shot put at 33-2.
Skinner also was one of four Erie County males who competed Sunday. Cathedral Prep distance runner Luke Brown was 15th in the 800 (2:00.94) and 19th in the mile (4:28.18). McDowell rival Christian Mattern was 18th in the mile (4:27.01).
