Former Sylvania softball, baseball coach named head coach at Gadsden State Community College

Former Sylvania softball and baseball coach Ryan Clark was named the head softball coach at Gadsden State Community College over the weekend.

The school sent a press release out on Saturday as athletic director Blake Lewis announced the hire.

“Coach Clark is eager and energetic and will be a great asset in helping us establish the softball program at Gadsden State,” Lewis said. “We are excited to have him join the Athletic Department, and we look forward to helping him grow the program.”

The last two seasons he led the Sylvania softball program, taking the program to new heights. In his first season they were runner ups in the area and made the regional tournament for the first time since 2014. In 2023, they were runner ups in their area and Dekalb county along with a Sweet 16 appearance in the state tournament.

From 2017-21, Clark coached baseball at Sylvania. The team made the state playoffs in 2018 and 2019 going to the state Sweet 16 round in 2019 and 2021. They won Dekalb county in 2021.

Clark is a graduate of Plainview High and Jacksonville State, where he was a student assistant with the Gamecocks softball team. He coached at Snead State Community College for two years as well.
