Former Southern Miss track star, Olympian Frentorish ‘Tori’ Bowie dead at 32
Olympian and Mississippi native Frentorish “Tori” Bowie has died at the age of 32, according to multiple reports and confirmed by her agent to CNN.
Bowie was a native of Sand Hill and a former Southern Miss track star who won an indoor and outdoor NCAA long jump championship before competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Her agent, Kimberly Holland, told CNN Bowie was found dead at her home in Florida and the cause of death is still unknown.
“We’re devasted to share the very sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away,” an Instagram post from Bowie’s management read. “We’ve lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister. Tori was a champion … a beacon of light that shined so bright! We’re truly heartbroken and our prayers are with the family, friends and everyone that loved her.”
Bowie took home three medals in the Rio Olympics, the gold in the 4x100m relay, silver in the 100 meters and bronze in the 200 meters.
She earned All-American honors three times at USM.
Bowie competed at the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London and her last official competition came in 2022.
