Former Jackson State football player Isaiah Bolden made his NFL debut, for the New England Patriots against the Houston Texans in a 20-9 loss Thursday.

The catch of the game came when Bolden was playing man-to-man  against Texans’ receiver Nathaniel “Tank” Dell.

Dell made an acrobatic catch from Texans' quarterback Davis Mills. As the ball went through Dell's hands, he ended up falling on his back in the end zone. The ball popped up in the air before Dell snatched it to score a touchdown with 15 seconds to go before halftime.

Bolden wore No.7 -making two tackles on defense. His impact was felt in the kicking game when he returned a kickoff for 26 yards.

The Patriots selected the 6-foot-2, 205 pounder, in the seventh round with the 245th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Bolden was the only player drafted from an HBCU this year.

Bolden is the first defensive back coached by Deion Sanders to be selected in the NFL draft. Sanders also coached former JSU defensive end James Houston, who had eight sacks in his rookie season for the Detroit Lions.

The Patriots play at the Green Bay Packers at 8 p.m. on Aug. 19.
