Former EFSC women’s soccer player Bunny Shaw represents Jamaica at Women's World Cup

Former Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer player Khadija "Bunny" Shaw will be playing for Jamaica in the Women’s World Cup beginning Sunday.

Shaw has had a big season for the Manchester City women’s soccer team with 31 goals in 30 matches, which set the record for most goals in a single season. Her league tally of 20 league goals also saw her overtake Nikita Parris for the most WSL goals in a single season by a City player.

Shaw was named the CONCACAF Women’s Soccer Player of the Year and was the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month for October, as well as the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for January.

In two seasons at Eastern Florida State College, Shaw scored 24 goals and had 11 assists in 21 career games. She helped the Titans to the postseason in both seasons with the team reaching the championship game of the national tournament in 2016. She was named a first team NJCAA All-American in 2016 and was named the Guardian Footballer of the Year in 2019.

Shaw and the Jamaica women’s team will open the World Cup group stage on Sunday against France at 6 a.m.

Jamaica is in Group F with France, Brazil and Panama. The top two teams from each group advance to the Round of 16.
