Former Cincinnati QB AJ McCarron rallies St. Louis Battlehawks to XFL win
Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback A.J. McCarron's XFL debut Sunday was a memorable one, as he rallied the St. Louis Battlehawks to a fourth-quarter comeback against the San Antonio Brahmas.
McCarron, who played his first four NFL seasons in Cincinnati after the Bengals drafted him in the fifth round in 2014, was 11-for-14 with 133 passing yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter of the Battlehawks' season-opening 18-15 win at the Alamodome.
The Battlehawks selected McCarron last November. St. Louis' offensive coordinator is Bruce Gradkowski, also a former Bengals QB.
Social media reactions to the Battlehawks' come-from-behind effort, led by McCarron:
Just like we planned it😉 https://t.co/wQLVxX85gw

Sunday's game was the first for McCarron since he tore his ACL in his right knee during a preseason game in Aug. 2021 with the NFL's Atlanta Falcons. He hadn't thrown a touchdown pass in a game since the Bengals' playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Jan. 2016.
