Football icon Herschel Walker, wife Julie Blanchard list charming Georgia home. See it
Former pro football star and University of Georgia icon Herschel Walker and his wife, Julie Blanchard, have listed their Atlanta home for $1.45 million less than a year after his loss in a campaign for U.S. Senate.
The three-bedroom, four-bathroom, 2,943-square-foot home — with a very distinct crimson front door — was featured in the background of one of Walker’s campaign commercials.
“A beautiful cottage nestled atop a hill on a +/- 1.5 acre private lot!” the listing on Sotheby’s International Realty says. “Vaulted ceiling primary suite on main with updated bath and large closets. Guest suite on the main as well as a suite on the terrace level. Lots of light and a beautiful large back porch built around a tree!”
The residence also has an updated kitchen, tons of attic space and a sunroom.
The home is owned by Blanchard, according to The Atlanta Journal-Consitution, and was listed as Walker’s residence during his 2022 Senate bid. But according to tax documents, his Dallas, Texas, home was marked as his primary residence, The Texas Tribune reported.
Walker was a UGA running back who won the Heisman Trophy in 1982 as a junior before going on to play in the United States Football League and eventually for the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL. He retired in 1997. Years after walking away from the game, Walker jumped into politics and won the Republican nomination for a U.S. Senate seat in Georgia. Walker ended up losing against Democrat Rapheal Warnock in a runoff election.
