The first Republican presidential debate is next week. Here's a list of local watch parties to attend.

Candidates will step on the debate stage in Milwaukee for the first Republican presidential debate on Aug. 23. Eight candidates have qualified to attend, but it's still somewhat unclear whether former President Donald Trump will be there. The debate starts at 8 p.m. CST and will finish around 10 p.m.

Young America's Foundation Hosts Block Party

Young America's Foundation is hosting a free block party to watch the televised debate for students, young adults, alumni, supporters and families. The block party features live entertainment, corn hole, giveaways and food trucks.

The event is full but you can request to be put on the waiting list. Registered guests must receive official confirmation and credentialing from YAF in order to attend the block party. A photo ID is also required for entry.

Wisconsin Conservative Digest hosts watch party in West Allis

The Wisconsin Conservative Digest is hosting a watch party in Pallas, at 1657 S 108th St., West Allis from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 23.

Republican Party of Waukesha County hosts watch party in Waukesha

The Republican Party of Waukesha County is hosting a watch party on Aug. 23 at 7p.m. at 1701 Pearl Street in Waukesha. You can RSVP on their website at waukeshagop.org.

Will Republican presidential candidates attend other events in Milwaukee?

Moms for Liberty, designated as an extremist antigovernment organization by the Southern Poverty Law Center, is planning a separate town hall during the morning of the Aug. 23 debate. A co-founder of the group told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel she expected four candidates to attend, but did not say which.
