Fantasy Football Big Board: Complete PPR Player Rankings for Week 5
We're one month into the 2022 NFL season, and four weeks into the fantasy football campaign. Things are taking shape...for better or worse.
At quarterback, Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally showed some signs of life last week against the Kansas City Chiefs, but he still doesn't have as many fantasy points as Geno Smith or Jared Goff.
Saquon Barkley's status as fantasy's No. 1 running back is a little surprising, but not shocking. Clyde Edwards-Helaire of the Kansas City Chiefs joining him in the top five is another matter, as is Khalil Herbert of the Chicago Bears having more PPR points than presumptive No. 1 overall pick Jonathan Taylor.
Christian Kirk of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Curtis Samuel of the Washington Commanders have more fantasy points among wide receivers than Mike Evans and DK Metcalf. At tight end, Tyler Conklin of the Jets has more points than George Kittle, Darren Waller and Kyle Pitts.
Which of these surprise stars will keep things going in Week 5? Which slow starters will get it in gear? And who is best left glued to the bench?
The answers to all those questions and more are contained here, with PPR rankings for every position, the top 100 overall and some matchups to target and avoid in Week 5.
For the most part, the highest-scoring fantasy quarterbacks a month into the season are the usual suspects. Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens ranks first after four weeks. Josh Allen is second, followed by Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes and Jared Goff.
Wait. What?
That's right. After lighting up the Seattle Seahawks to the tune of 378 yards and four touchdowns, Goff is fantasy's No. 5 quarterback. He has out-pointed Kyler Murray, Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow, Tom Brady and the list goes on and on.
This week's trip to face the New England Patriots isn't an ideal matchup, but it isn't terrible, either. And with Detroit's leaky defense forcing the team into shootouts on an almost weekly basis, Goff has become a viable starter for fantasy managers.
Good Matchups
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals (at BAL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,700]
Burrow hasn't thrown for 300 yards since Week 1, but he has five touchdown passes without an interception over the past two weeks. Sunday night, Burrow and the Bengals face a Baltimore Ravens secondary allowing a league-high 315.3 passing yards per game.
Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders (at KC) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900]
Carr didn't do a lot against the Denver Broncos in Week 4, throwing for just 188 yards without a touchdown. But the Raiders are going to have to throw to keep pace with the high-flying Chiefs, and Kansas City ranks 27th in the league in pass defense.
Bad Matchups
Matt Ryan, Indianapolis Colts (at DEN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,500]
Ryan had a big game against the Titans last week, passing for 356 yards and two touchdowns. But posting those sorts of numbers against the Broncos isn't likely—Denver is giving up just 170.8 yards per game through the air in 2022.
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams (vs. DAL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,400]
Stafford hasn't really met expectations so far this season, in part because of a string of poor fantasy matchups for quarterbacks. Unfortunately, things aren't going to get better in Week 5—the Dallas pass defense is surrendering fewer than 175 passing yards a game.
Sleeper
Zach Wilson, New York Jets (vs. MIA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,300]
Wilson wasn't especially effective throwing the ball last week in his 2022 debut, but his fantasy output was buoyed by a touchdown catch against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Things should come easier this week against a banged-up Dolphins secondary that has struggled in recent weeks.
WEEK 5 QUARTERBACK RANKINGS

27. Jacoby Brissett, CLE (vs. LAC)
28. Daniel Jones, NYG (at GB) [INJURED]
29. Davis Mills, HOU (at JAX)
30. Kenny Pickett, PIT (at BUF)
Well, another week has passed, and with it came more carnage at the running back position.
In Week 4, fantasy managers were already short D'Andre Swift (shoulder) of the Lions and David Montgomery (knee) of the Bears. Alvin Kamara (ribs) of the Saints was a late scratch—much to the chagrin of fantasy managers who were snoozing away as the London game kicked off.
Unfortunately, that was only the start of it, as more losses piled up.
During Sunday's early slate, Cordarrelle Patterson of the Falcons aggravated his knee injury, landing on injured reserve after having it cleaned up Monday. The late slate brought disaster—Javonte Williams of the Broncos is out for the season after tearing multiple ligaments in his knee against the Raiders.
If there was a silver lining to another weekend of injuries in the backfield, it was that Jonathan Taylor's ankle injury isn't believed to be serious. In fact, the No. 1 overall pick in most fantasy leagues might even be able to face the Broncos on Thursday.
Sometimes you have to take whatever good news you can get.
Good Matchups
Damien Harris, New England Patriots (vs. DET) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,600]
Harris is coming off his best game of the season against the Packers, carrying the ball 18 times for 86 yards with his third score on the ground in as many weeks. The Lions have been awful against the run this season, allowing over 165 yards a game.
James Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. HOU) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,300]
Robinson was a non-factor against the Philadelphia Eagles, managing just 29 rushing yards on eight carries. But that dud came against a formidable Eagles defense. The Texans are, um, not so formidable—Houston has allowed an AFC-high 172 rushing yards per contest in 2022.
Bad Matchups
Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers (at BUF) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,500]
Four games into the 2022 season, Harris has averaged 3.5 yards per carry, scored just one touchdown on the ground and ranks outside the top-25 running backs in fantasy points. Now the second-year pro gets a Bills defense that ranks second in the AFC against the run.
Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders (at KC) [DraftKings DFS Value: $,5,700]
Jacobs was fantastic against the Broncos in Week 4, piling up 144 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. But the Chiefs are leading the AFC in run defense at 65.8 yards per game, partly because their offense forces opponents to abandon it.
Sleeper
Nyheim Hines, Indianapolis Colts (at DEN) {DraftKings DFS Value: $5,500]
Even if Taylor is able to play through his ankle injury Thursday, it's not a stretch to assume the Colts could scale back his touches on a short week. That should mean more work for Hines against a Denver defense that was just exposed by Jacobs and the Raiders.

44. Kenneth Walker III, SEA (at NO)
45. Isiah Pacheco, KC (vs. LV)
46. Kenneth Gainwell, PHI (at ARI)
47. Justice Hill, BAL (vs. CIN)
48. J.D. McKissic, WAS (vs. TEN)
49. Rachaad White, TB (vs. ATL)
50. Nyheim Hines, IND (at DEN)
For the most part, the top of the wide receiver rankings has been a tale of chalk. Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, Cooper Kupp and Justin Jefferson have all been high-end WR1, which is exactly as fantasy managers expected.
However, there have been a few pleasant surprises. Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Lions missed Week 4 with a bad ankle, but he was third in PPR points over the season's first three weeks. Christian Kirk of the Jaguars laid an egg in Week 4 against the Eagles, but his 20/327/3 line after four games has been good for top-12 numbers. Curtis Samuel of the Commanders also had his worst game of the season last week, but he still has substantially more fantasy points than battery-mate Terry McLaurin, who was drafted much earlier.
McLaurin isn't the only wideout who hasn't met expectations thus far. Brandin Cooks of the Texans found the end zone in Week 4, but he still ranks outside the top-30 wide receivers for the year. D.J. Moore of the Panthers was drafted as a high-end WR2, but he barely ranks inside the top-50 at the position, and Chicago's Darnell Mooney went from promising up-and-comer to outside the top 75 in fantasy points.
Good Matchups
Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. ATL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,900]
In his first game action since the season opener, Godwin had seven catches for 59 yards in Tampa's Week 4 loss to Kansas City. With Mike Evans likely to see A.J. Terrell on Sunday, Godwin could be set for a big game against the Falcons.
Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints (vs. SEA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,700]
Olave has quickly become a big part of the Saints offense, amassing at least 13 PPR fantasy points in each of the past three weeks. That's closer to his floor than his ceiling this week against Seattle's 29th-ranked pass defense.
Bad Matchups
Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers (at BUF) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,100]
Johnson vanished with Kenny Pickett under center for the Steelers last week, recording just two catches for 11 yards. That should improve once the two get some practice reps together, but don't count on it happening in a bad fantasy matchup with Buffalo's stifling defense.
D.J. Moore, Carolina Panthers (vs. SF) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,200]
After Moore finally showed some signs of life last week with six catches for 50 yards, some fantasy managers may be hopeful that he's starting to turn a corner. That rebound is going to stop before it ever really starts—the 49ers have one of the stingiest pass defenses in the league.
Sleeper
Michael Gallup, Dallas Cowboys (at LAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,000]
Gallup only caught two passes for 24 yards in his 2022 debut last week, but one of those receptions was a touchdown. With a game under his belt, Gallup should do that much better in a favorable matchup with the Rams, especially if CeeDee Lamb sees a lot of Jalen Ramsey on Sunday.
WEEK 5 WIDE RECEIVER RANKINGS
1. Cooper Kupp, LAR (vs. DAL)
2. Stefon Diggs, BUF (vs. PIT)
3. Ja'Marr Chase, CIN (at BAL)

45. Romeo Doubs, GB (vs. NYG)
46. Hunter Renfrow, LV (at KC) [INJURED]
47. Zay Jones, JAX (at HOU) [INJURED]
48. Tyler Boyd, CIN (at BAL)
49. Darnell Mooney, CHI (at MIN)
50. Corey Davis, NYJ (vs. MIA)
A month into the season, we know a few things about the tight end position.
We know that managers who paid the premium for Travis Kelce of the Chiefs and Mark Andrews of the Ravens got what they paid for—the duo ranks first and second in PPR points through four weeks.
We know that fantasy managers hoping for a huge second season from Kyle Pitts of the Falcons have been left holding the bag. After his one-catch outing against the Cleveland Browns, Pitts ranks 18th at the position in points.
And we know that Zach Ertz of the Cardinals may turn out to have been the been the best value pick of the year at the position.
Etrtz isn't third in points among tight ends—that honor belongs to T.J. Hockenson of the Lions following a massive game against the Seahawks. But Ertz has posted top-five numbers for the season and stands with Kelce as the only two tight ends to post double-digit PPR points in all four games.
Good Matchups
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles (at ARI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,700]
Goedert hasn't put up Travis Kelce-esque fantasy numbers this season, but the fifth-year veteran has had 11-plus PPR points in each of the past three games. A plus matchup for tight ends with the Cardinals should make it four in a row.
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons (at TB) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,400]
Have whiplash yet? Everything I just wrote about Pitts is true—he's gone from every-week must-start to risky matchup play. But the Buccaneers rank among the top-five in fantasy points allowed to tight ends, and you have to think Atlanta will complete more than seven passes in Week 5.
Bad Matchups
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers (at BUF) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,100]
Freiermuth is coming off a big game last week in which he reeled in seven catches for 85 yards against the New York Jets. It's not going to be easy to back those numbers up against the Bills, especially with a rookie quarterback making the first start of his career.
Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys (at LAR) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,400]
Schultz was back on the field last week after missing time with a knee injury, but he didn't record a catch against the Commanders. With a bad matchup for tight ends on tap against the Rams, Schultz is best left on the bench if you have another option.
Sleeper
Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders (vs. TEN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,200]
Thomas only had 19 receiving yards last week against Dallas, but they came on five catches, which salvaged a serviceable PPR stat line. If you're hurting for a starter at tight end, Thomas draws a top-10 matchup for the position Sunday against the Titans.
WEEK 5 TIGHT END RANKINGS
1. Travis Kelce, KC (vs. LV)
2. Mark Andrews, BAL (vs. CIN)
3. Darren Waller, LV (at KC)
4. George Kittle, SF (at CAR)
5. Dallas Goedert, PHI (at ARI)
6. Zach Ertz, ARI (vs. PHI)
7. T.J. Hockenson, DET (at NE)
8. Kyle Pitts, ATL (at TB)
9. Tyler Higbee, LAR (vs. DAL)
10. Gerald Everett, LAC (vs. CLE)
11. Tyler Conklin, NYJ (vs. MIA)
12. Dawson Knox, BUF (vs. PIT)
13. David Njoku, CLE (vs. LAC)
14. Dalton Schultz, DAL (at LAR) [INJURED]
15. Hayden Hurst, CIN (at BAL)
16. Pat Freiermuth, PIT (at BUF)
17. Robert Tonyan, GB (vs. NYG)
18. Mo Alie-Cox, IND (at DEN)
19. Hunter Henry, NE (vs. DET)
20. Logan Thomas, WAS (vs. TEN)
21. Mike Gesicki, MIA (at NYJ)
22. Irv Smith Jr., MIN (vs. CHI)
23. Cole Kmet, CHI (at MIN)
24. Will Dissly, SEA (at NO)
25. Juwan Johnson, NO (vs. SEA)
26. Noah Fant, SEA (at NO)
27. Evan Engram, JAX (vs. HOU)
28. Cameron Brate, TB (vs. ATL) [INJURED]
29. Albert Okwuegbunam, DEN (vs. IND)
30. Daniel Bellinger, NYG (vs. GB)
As with just about every other position in fantasy football, the top of the defensive rankings four weeks in is more chalk than not.
Fantasy analysts are wrong sometimes. But believe it or not, we really try not to be.
The Buccaneers and Bills were two of the first defenses drafted in 2022. They were expected to be stout. They have not disappointed for the most part, although the Chiefs just dropped 41 on the Buccaneers.
No one's perfect.
That the Philadelphia Eagles are the highest-scoring defense at this point in the season is surprising, but not shocking. The Eagles have both the personnel and a history of being solid defensively, and they are playing as well on that side of the ball as any team in the league.
But the fourth-ranked Jacksonville Jaguars? Now that's a surprise. Even in last week's loss to the Eagles, the Jags defense managed a solid stat line compliments of Andre Cisco's pick-six.
The Jaguars may not be able to sustain this level of production. But at the very least, Jacksonville has become a legit matchup play.
After finishing the 2021 season last in fantasy points among defenses, that's something.
Good Matchups
Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers (vs. NYG)
Much like the Packers offense as a whole, Crosby hasn't been all that productive this season. But the Packers should be able to move the ball on the Giants in London, so the veteran shouldn't want for scoring opportunities.
Miami Dolphins Defense (at NYJ) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,200]
The Dolphins have been somewhat hit-or-miss from a fantasy perspective, but if ever there was a week for a "hit," it's this Sunday against the Zach Wilson-led Jets. With Wilson at the helm last year, the Jets allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to team defenses.
Bad Matchups
Matt Prater, Arizona Cardinals (vs. PHI)
The Arizona offense has struggled to get untracked this season, especially in the first half. Add in an Eagles team that ranks at the bottom of the league in fantasy points allowed to kickers, and Prater isn't likely to be a factor in Week 5.
Los Angeles Chargers (at CLE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,100]
At first glance, the Chargers might appear to be a solid fantasy matchup against the Jacoby Brissett-led Browns. But Cleveland has not been a good fantasy matchup for defenses. As a matter of fact, they have been the worst through four weeks.
Sleeper
Dallas Cowboys Defense (at LAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,500]
It might seem a little weird to call one of the NFL's best defenses over the first month of the season a "sleeper." But Dallas' DFS price tag is depressed by a supposedly poor matchup that really isn't. The Rams are struggling offensively right now—fire up Dallas as you normally would.

Before we dive into this week's top 100 players overall (a list that can aid in making "flex" lineup decisions), the weekly caveat and bit of advice.
The caveat is the same as every week—there are no quarterbacks listed in these rankings. If your fantasy league features a "superflex" spot, then nine times in 10 you're going to want a quarterback in it.
The advice is this: It can be easy to get anxious if the first month of the season has gone badly. And to be brutally honest, if you're oh-fer the first month, you're in trouble. But a 1-3 team is only two games under .500. You can turn things around quickly enough.
Be aggressive on the waiver wire. Dangle some trade offers to fill a need. Get aggressive with lineup calls, especially if you feel like an underdog this week.
But stay calm. We're just four weeks in.
There's still a long way to go.
