Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier needs 100 rushing yards vs. Bucs to hit 1K

In Week 17, Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier went over 1,000 all-purpose yards for the season, and the rookie has a chance to hit another milestone during Sunday’s finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Allgeier, a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, has exactly 900 rushing yards heading into Week 18. With a 100-yard game on Sunday, Allgeier would be the second rookie in Falcons history to top the 1,000-yard rushing mark.

William Andrews set the franchise record of 1,023 rushing yards during his rookie season in 1979. In order to surpass Andrews, Allgeier needs 124 rushing yards against a Buccaneers defense that allows 117.4 per game.

While the former BYU star certainly deserves credit for his breakout season, Atlanta’s offensive line has been the heart of the team in 2022. Left tackle Jake Matthews, right guard Chris Lindstrom and right tackle Kaleb McGary have led the way.

McGary will be a free agent this offseason after the team declined his fifth-year option in 2022.
